Happy New Year 2012........A Book Meme

Here's wishing everyone A Very Happy & Prosperous New Year 2012.......

Hoping that the New Year brings lots of Happiness and Good Health to you all.......

I kick start the New Year 2012 by blogging about a Book Meme done by Nupur of One Hot Stove (one of my favourite blogs)

1. The book I'm currently reading:  No Deadline for Love by Manasi Vaidya

This is debut novel by my friend Manasi Vaidya. Fast paced and witty, the book makes you fall in love with the protagonist, Megha and her Knight in Shining Armour, Yudi.
A good read........

2. The last book I finished: The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley

This book was strongly recommended to me on Twitter as in the "Agatha Christie genre".As all her diehard fans will say there will never be another Agatha Christie.... But in all fairness, this debut novel by Canadian author, Alan Bradley won the Agatha Award in 2009.Reviewer Lucy Clark compared Bradley's style to that of Agatha Christie, calling The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie a "delightfully old-fashioned mystery."
The eleven year old protagonist, Flavia de Luce, solves the murder mystery to clear her innocent father.
As I searched high and low for it, the book remained out of stock at all Crosswords and the likes, converting me into a flipkart customer :))

3. The next book I want to read: The Weed That Strings the Handman's Bag by Alan Bradley

This is second Flavia de Luce book by Alan Bradley. The reviews of this book look promising...

4. The last book I bought: The Floating Admiral (A Detective Novel by Agatha Christie and 12 others)

This is a rare collectible which I accidentally came across on flipkart while ordering the above two books and promptly made me place my order for it.
Quoting from book : "This is first ever collaborative detective novel from the greatest crime writers, Agatha Christie, Dorothy L.Sayers, G.K.Chesterton and eleven other writers from the legendary Detection Club collaborate in this fiendishly clever but forgotten crime novel published for the first time in India."
It is a must read and highly recommended... the solutions by all authors are worth reading esp. the solution by Agatha Christie.

5. The last book I was given: The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson

This book and  The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest which are book number 2 and 3 in the Millennium Series by Stieg Larsson were gifted to me by my Best Friend, D, who was in India for her annual visit recently.
These books are current best sellers and I am told have been made into movies as well....

I just came back from lovely and wonderful holiday trip with family from Kerala and I plan on penning down my travel memories on my blog....

So watch this space for more.............
